Sureway Heating Cooling and Plumbing highlights community partnership with Heart & Soul Parrot Rescue

BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. — Sureway Heating Cooling and Plumbing, a Bridgeville-based residential service company, is highlighting its partnership with Heart & Soul Parrot Rescue, a local organization that has rehomed more than 1,000 parrots across the Pittsburgh area.
Founded in 1998 by Sherry Johnson, Heart & Soul Parrot Rescue is a family-oriented, local organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming parrots in need. The rescue provides permanent adoption services and foster care programs, working to match each bird with a safe, suitable home.
The organization is known for its careful adoption and foster screening process. Prospective adopters and foster families must provide a safe home environment, maintain a no-smoking household and attend a training class focused on proper bird care.
Training covers topics including:
- safe foods for parrots,
- how often bedding should be cleaned,
- how to train and interact with birds, and
- appropriate toys and enrichment.
All birds receive a medical exam before adoption, underscoring the rescue’s commitment to the health and well-being of every parrot in its care.
Heart & Soul Parrot Rescue serves communities throughout the Pittsburgh region and participates in community events including:
- Bridgeville Day on the Ave,
- Pittsburgh Pet Expo,
- Tekko, and
- the Brentwood Fourth of July Parade.
Sureway supports the rescue by providing storage space, a monthly meeting location and occasional help with fundraisers and general support. At times, as many as 30 parrots have been housed in Sureway’s warehouse space.
The partnership also has a personal connection. Some Sureway employees and customers have permanently adopted birds through Heart & Soul Parrot Rescue.
